The Evolution of Microsoft Dynamics

For existing clients we are starting the conversation now as your next decision surrounding Microsoft Dynamics NAV is a significant one. The coming period represents a watershed moment as Microsoft enables its SaaS (software as a service) platform for Microsoft Dynamics NAV…known as Dynamics 365 Business Central. Essentially; moving forward there are two strategies;

  1. On Premise/ private hosting; this being the incumbent Dynamics NAV application for clients remaining ‘On Premises’ or in private hosting, the current edition being NAV 2018.
  2. (SaaS); this being the public cloud i.e. deployed on Microsoft’s hosting platform Azure.

Long term, the future is the Cloud (SaaS) model i.e. 5 – 10 years…but short/ medium term requires a different thinking. What is the best approach for your organisation and how do we strategically prepare for the long term?

For some, a jump straight to the Cloud (SaaS) model may be preferred, for others, retaining an on premise/private hosting model will have merit. This will differ from client to client, the timing of your next upgrade again will differ from client to client.
